Lakeshore Aerie #2243, Fraternal Order of Eagles, is located in Geneva in Ashtabula County in Northeast Ohio near the shores of Lake Erie. Geneva was established in 1816 and named for Geneva, New York. It became an incorporated village in June 1866. In 1958, Geneva Village became the City of Geneva. Ashtabula County is the largest county in Ohio. Located in Northeast Ohio, it borders Lake Erie and Pennsylvania. Due to its location, it has a microclimate which enhances grape cultivation and the production of excellent wines. In fact, about 65% of all grapes grown in Ohio are grown in Ashtabula County. Numerous wineries are located in Ashtabula County and many produce Award Winning wines.
Ashtabula is also home to many historic Covered Bridges including the longest and shortest in the United States. The longest is 613 feet and spans the Ashtabula River. The shortest is only 18 feet and is located in Geneva over Cowles Creek. Ashtabula hosts the Covered Bridge Festival at the Ashtabula County Fairgrounds the 2nd full weekend in October.
The Grape Jamboree is celebrated on Saturday and Sunday of the last full weekend of September in Geneva. Activities include a Parade both days, Carnival rides, food booths and many other activities.
